This is the poem that inspired me as a 14 year old to start writing and I fell in love with playing with words way back then......

BENDED KNEES
As a man I was told to earn my pedigree
Make it my life's aim, purpose and creed
Not to compromise for my want nor need
Never to genuflect on my bended knees
Love said the oath better on bended knees
Her smile of approval only meant she agreed
So i lowered my heart and planted my knees
Some degrees turned, but to love on my feet
A gun to your temple for your life to plea
You bargain for your life by the skin of the teeth
So your mind to your soul some fear to teach
Your manly voice lost on your bended knees
Your lovers have these bedroom tendencies
That they want imposed to have that glee
So to keep the relationship happy, you agree
Perhaps I can compromise on these bended knees
Make it my life's aim, purpose and creed
Not to compromise for my want nor need
Never to genuflect on my bended knees
Love said the oath better on bended knees
Her smile of approval only meant she agreed
So i lowered my heart and planted my knees

MY VILLAGE
Dusty road that thirst water
Pot-holes gutter to gutter
Earthen pots to fill the belly
Pot-bellies empty and needy
Mud huts that arise from dirt
Palm fronds that dress the sun in skirt.......
The old lorry that survived Vietnam
Gullies of erosion
The scent of drying cocoa
The persistence of flies
Business of the market place
Both fiscal and barter trade
Bargaining and petitioning
Condoning and coniving
Buyers and willing sellers
Royalty and floor dwellers.........
The spinning of kente
Sweat of money
The colour of industry
The power of community
Smiles that defy penury
Hearts that eat adversary
History and superstition
Folklore and religion
Old men of great intuition
Young men of expedition.......
The pride of the people
Culture of labour
The collection of huts
The heart of heritage
Pot-holes gutter to gutter
Earthen pots to fill the belly

THE AFRICAN TIN CAR DREAM
Hand made dreams of tin
Rubber tyres and strings
Push pull, push pull again
The tin-car dream, the boy art
Assembled from kitchen waste parts
That is their Kinder Surprise
Dreams risen out of metal demise
Recycled hope of ownership
Welcome to the African dealership
Rubber rims ride these pimps
Dreams that are bound only by imagination
Vehicles that defy social classifications
So the farmer's boy can ride a Mercedes
And the accountant's kid a Tata Truck
More tin bigger car, better use of mother's bucks
So when you see them with their first car
It is a dream that started in a land afar
Pushing pulling, pushing pulling again
Modify the dream, step up the design
One more milk tin and we will be pimping again.

THE CHASING GAME
Don't be cute with me
If you are really into me
I am not here to earn a psych degree
Or to see your needs unseen
I'm rather unfit you see
I cannot run,
Sprint or jog.
I just enjoy a nice slow walk.
Please don't make me chase!
Don't be mean to me
If you are really into me
I am not here to earn a maths degree
Or calculate variables unknown
I'm rather simple you see
I cannot manipulate,
Formulate or plot.
I just enjoy a random course
Please don't make me chase

GHANAIAN LADY
Has the gift of the gab
Contours that rival a map
Skin brown mud brown
Dark hair nappy hair
Lioness in dress
Lamb in church
Heart mild sheep mild
Words sweet saccharine sweet
Daughter of plenty
Example to many
Broad mind wide mind
Wisdom deep abyss deep
Star of Africa
Light in the diaspora
Future bright fluorescent bright
Unadulterated culture lasting culture

THE FATHERLESS
The absent role model
The disappearing shadow
The silent touchline coach
The broken compasses
The invisible date chaperon
The drying gene pool
The author of law and rule
The wedding day absentee
The bass in your orchestra
The bread winner
The life educator
The biggest big brother
Hear me O fatherless
Ye that manned your youth
They that carved their own
Kindred that lost the bread winner
But kept in the mill to knead the "dough"
Hear me O fatherless
Ye brave ones that warred
They that dropped their toys
To act to make their show
And picked their axes and hoes
Hear me O fatherless
Ye that danced to the old tune
They that parented siblings
Ones that harboured pain
The world shall sing your fame
The disappearing shadow
The silent touchline coach
The broken compasses
The invisible date chaperon
The drying gene pool
The author of law and rule
The wedding day absentee

REVERSE (ESREVER)
She did me like reverse parking
In and out, out and in
Side to side to get in......
I was restricted on my license
But I was an empty space,
So I made the allowance.
Parked too far from the kerb
Always too cautious to get near
She did me like reverse parking
Again and again unrehearsed
Many attempts to travail
Little space bigger vehicle
Short stays the meter needs nickels
So I lost time and its sequels
Parked too far from the kerb
Never close enough to hear a word
She did me like reverse parking
More brakes less pedal
Many back looks less frontal
Broken mirrors of sorrow
Convex and concave error
Heads shake arms left akimbo
Parked too far from the kerb
But beware objects far may appear near!
In and out, out and in
Side to side to get in......
I was restricted on my license
But I was an empty space,
So I made the allowance.

MY CAKE
I got my SUGAR days
Where everything is sweet
When goodness tingles from head to feet
It's just an ingredient;
I got my FLOUR days
Everything's all in the air
Where life is like a truth or a dare
It's just an ingredient;
I got my SALTY days
When I am sharp and strong
To inspire today, tomorrow and beyond
It's just an ingredient;
I got my MILKY days
When I am smooth and cool
Building and nourishing like a school
It's just an ingredient;
I got my ICY days
When I am young and cold
Quick to anger and unrepentive to scolds
It's just an ingredient;
These are that which make me
A mix of sorts and ingredients
So what you see on your plate
Is OSEI, the makings of my CAKE!
Where everything is sweet
When goodness tingles from head to feet
It's just an ingredient;
I got my FLOUR days
Everything's all in the air
Where life is like a truth or a dare

LIFE'S FEAST
I have tasted both success and failure
They both left a taste on my tongue
One made me desire the other
For when I had failed I was blue
Coiled up in emotions hot and stewed
For what inspires shortly perspires
And the inspiration becomes the agitation
The aspirant's frustration an education
I wrote pieces that were clearer than resolutions
Because the end of the year left me delusioned
For when I succeded hugging the summit
It was rather the beginning of the plummet
On my cloud nine sun-rayed and aired
To kiss the feet of pride at the sole of nadir
I brushed shoulders with past kings,
Angels damned with clipped wings
Heaven so far from an African prince
Depths so deep one cannot fall
Bone crushing presure you need to crawl
I have seen it all rich and poor, the latter the more
I have met angels in the lowest of low arrow and sword
Beings that ripped their own wings to see me soar
I have met demons in the highest of highs
Who prayed with me and speared my side
Dream catchers that sell doubt to soil my pride
Crossed strangers that showed strange affection
That spared no tongue and tooth to give me a bite
People that called me brother and screamed out my fight
Engaged fair ladies that ripped chest to share hearts's thirst
They themselves troubled but laid me inbetween their breast
A son so parted from the mother's bossom could not wean
But on these glands they comfort me as a grown man weeps
So I have tasted both success and failure
I shared the two feasts with those that I call mates-
Schoolmates, flatmates, sports mates, heart mates.
There is more on my plate but I will not choke
Because I found family in the people in these quotes.

BOOBY TRAP
It is hard to keep my eye up
With your chest up
And my neck bucked
With my eye stuck
I ain't a dog
But this is some Scooby snacks
OK you got me in your booby-trap!
Cleavage defying gravity
That's pressurised milk
My mind won't settle that's pressurised filth
So back down and buck up
This conversation is losing touch
If I'm a dog you are a cow
I stutter because of your udder
I would've gotten away If not for those meddling eyes
I need at least a meter to breathe i won't lie.

THE FATHER MOTHER
The father mother
To the brave ones that transcended role
Who built the kitchen to cook in it
Raised boys to men and be far from it
Unorthodox but did the best you can
To the breast that milked and weaned
Little feet to stronger teens
The fairer sex that cried the battle war
That your young wil be all but poor
An eagle at your nest a mother at first
But a father, a man nonetheless
The Father mother
By death or divorce you are left alone
Did not weep but humbly climbed the throne
Had room to wear the dress over the trousers
Lived less that your own will be a success
Those charred knees of endless prayer
From birth to the day they walk to the alter
Now your nest is empty but success you can boast
Come dusk, they will all come and roost.

MOTHER'S BOY
Mother sewed back my buttons with a rhyme
My son, she said, a stitch in time saves nine
So when trouble troubled me I ran to her side
Not to hide in my crime but to hear a new line
For her nuggets were golden to my rainbow's end
Those wise currency of words I sought to spend
Kofi, do not throw your life away in decisions
But weigh them with caution and precision
Mother spared the rod but never the Lord's verse
Spake of parables, epistles and chapters rehearsed
So when the dinner table was short of bread and broth
And the gas and electricity were off
I was full of the Word, and warm in her cloth
'Gye nyame' printed textiles and lavender blouse
Home was not the blocks or bricks in her house
Auntie Aggie lowered her old glasses to stand and stare
Now that was worth a warning, "don't you dare!"
So her silence right after I falter is a deafening scream
She is a lady, she yelled at me only in my dreams
So I would wake up and seek to greet her first
So I know what mood the morning had her abreast
For mother I will always be her boy, needing lines
I will never be too old to be a son, so I keep her rhymes
Till I know all her parables, I am still a mother's boy.

DEW
You the freshness of my day
The very delight after my yawn
As the leaves are left wet
So you leave me refreshed
You are the droplets of happiness
The little pockets of my countenance
As the leaves are photosynthesised
So your face leaves me mesmerized
I do not need that storm of affection
Or that tornado wild wild crazy crush
The chaos and adventure of a typhoon
I just need that settling,restoring
dew, that is you!
The very delight after my yawn
As the leaves are left wet
So you leave me refreshed
You are the droplets of happiness
The little pockets of my countenance
As the leaves are photosynthesised
So your face leaves me mesmerized

BALANCE
Dream but don't love the sleep
The clock ticks to make days and weeks
Son, dream but don't love the sleep.
Love but don't fall a prey
The heart beats for both true and fake
Son, love but don't fall a prey
The clock ticks to make days and weeks
Son, dream but don't love the sleep.
Love but don't fall a prey
The heart beats for both true and fake
Son, love but don't fall a prey
LOVE
Love is like driving
Gear changing and steering
STOP signs and warnings
Love is like baking
Constant kneading and turning
Even heating for tanning
Love is like birthing
Moans and groans
To claim your own
Love is like farming
Regular watering and pruning
Sowing to continue reaping
Love is like burping
Loud but necessary
Rewarding and purgatory
Love is like running
Heart-aching but healthy
Distance exposes the weary
Gear changing and steering
STOP signs and warnings
Love is like baking
Constant kneading and turning
Even heating for tanning

FINGER LICKING!
Mother's sweet potatoe pie
Lick, lick, finger licking!
When the finger met the fire
Lick, lick, finger licking!
To romance her dry
Lick, lick, finger licking!
The door catching your side
Lick, lick, finger licking!
The blade your skin to slice
Lick, lick, finger licking!
The onion and pepper to your eye
Sh*t, sh*t, got you cursing!

PRIMARY LOVE
Let's go back to the primary love
Where I kicked your sand castle down,
That is love
Let's describe the early crush
Where I would fight to sit by your side,
That is love
Let's remember the secret letter under your desk
That one I sneaked in during recess,
That is love
Picture the blush I got when you came near
When red permeated chocolate skin clear,
That is love
Reminisce my philanthropy in the playground
Where I halved that sandwich peanut brown,
That is love
That day I punched that bully in the face
Because he said your hair was a disgrace,
That is love
Ha! One exam day I tilted my paper for you to see
When in truth I knew you always got better marks than me,
That is love
Times passed you say you are grown
The man that loves me must hold his own
You ask for a public show a wedding ring
To embarrass me to repeat "I do" again and again!
Wedding so rehearsed a moment highly diluted
So the thicker the ring, the thinner the skin
So love is a waste spread out polluted
That is love?
Remember the days when I liked you and you only knew
That friend I scorned because he told a few,
That is love
So we too grown to act out cute
So we rush to say a few lines on cue
" I do, I do" If we only knew
So I will sit in my sand and admire you
Today is you,
Next recess may be that girl in blue!

BUDDING
I am the son of the one before me
The grandfather of the one to come
I bear the name of my ancestors
With this I will appoint successors
So I live forever in my descendents
I am the grandchild of the grand womb
I kicking fetus to walk, the world to roam
I resemble the one that carried the spear
The running man that slayed the dear
My chest is hardened by the African sun
I am a people of present and past
I am both the desire and the goal
An image of fear a roar so near
I am the the one despised yet glorified
My skin is soiled with the toil of the soil
I am a beast with four eyes for foresight
A walking solution a prophet of my own life
I am a cry of villages the riot of cities
The aborted child that screams wild
I am the last straw you will find to clutch
That fine thread that left the camel sore
I am the stars the moon to shine
I am to the crime the law that binds
I am an electrified electrolyte
The suicidal rope that holds on tight
I am a weapon of mass destruction
I am my dream and hope....
So I can author what I think
Put to pen a life in a script
Act out my thoughts to the brink
So I am what I think.....
Bled out doubt so I walk on my red carpet
I am a star so you will see me on this planet
So a black star will shine out of a flag
And shall be seen at home and in the diaspora
And stand on his feet next to his mother, Ghana.
The grandfather of the one to come
I bear the name of my ancestors
With this I will appoint successors
So I live forever in my descendents

NEWS
No news is good news
When its got to be told
The blind listens then forsee
What the able-sighted will see to disagree
No news is good news
When telling it needs a degree
So the media just makes you believe
What the shareholder wants you to see
No news is good news
When it needs interpretation
Why analyse the fact spoken
What is true is weak if it needed proven
When its got to be told
The blind listens then forsee
What the able-sighted will see to disagree
No news is good news
When telling it needs a degree
So the media just makes you believe
What the shareholder wants you to see

LEFT
I loved you with my left heart
So I Left just to make a Right
I thought with my Left brain
So Rightly I could not feel
I kept you on my Left side
Lost your hold on my weaker Left
I only saw what was Left
So got blinded at the Right time
I took my work,
our friends,
our joy,
our plans.
Then you took off Rightly,
and Left.
So I Left just to make a Right
I thought with my Left brain
So Rightly I could not feel
I kept you on my Left side
Lost your hold on my weaker Left
I only saw what was Left
So got blinded at the Right time

WHEN PIGS FLY
When pigs fly
I will try,
Be you and not me
Sit when you say
Shut up till May
When bacon gets wings
I will sigh,
Mellow at your feet
Degrade like a disease
Bend at the knees
When pork climb tress
I will buy,
Your voice my decree
Your praise in my teeth
Your service my lease
When pigs fly
I will deny,
The man that I am
The palm of my hand
The make of my man.
I will try,
Be you and not me
Sit when you say
Shut up till May
When bacon gets wings
I will sigh,
Mellow at your feet
Degrade like a disease
Bend at the knees
When pork climb tress
I will buy,
Your voice my decree
Your praise in my teeth

The palm of my hand
The make of my man.

Shall I?
Shall I thread fields anew
Shall I love to live for two
Shall I be me for you
Shall I pay all my dues
Must I?
Must I build bridges afresh
Must I write off all my debt
Must I live a long regret
Must I rest on my success
Will I?
Will i achieve the set goals
Will I try more than the old
Will I write more and post
Will I enlighten enough souls
I shall, I must and I will
In 2009!

HILLS AND VALLEYS
I try to beat the smell of sweat
On these hills I mount an ascent
Those lands uneven to contend
My youth's struggles to comprehend
I pray my attitude rises with my altitude
So I can harness strength even in solitude
These dizzy heights to keep a mean balance
That even in my folly I may stand a chance
And when I am in lands a low
In depths the ear fails the echo
A silent voice to hear clearer
A soothing word, a wise whisper
Lord I pray not to only grow in height
But strengthen me to the last leukocyte
Deafen me to the shouts of detractors
Equip me with the notes and tunes of a victor
Father humble my climb in time
Guide my thoughts and mind
Let not the finish line seem too far
Keep me permanent on the road like tar
So when the Easterly winds blow
My feet planted firm on Destiny's Road
Forgive in advance my shortcomings
Let not education make me doubt your second coming
As I walk among the bones in the valley
Remind my heart your glory to tally
That my faith not judged by mere sight
Beaten, waived or shaken by my plight
But guided by your words in foresight
That I may also be seen in your light
Breed me a humble and obedient flock
And an even better shepherd to my lot!(Wife and kids)

BEHIND THESE PRISON WALLS
Behind these prison walls I live
Metallic bars of defeat nailed deep
Beyond these prison walls my dignity
Iron-barred justice, lost impunity
To court with crime is to court with the law
Actions done in minutes punished in years and more
Behind these prison walls I breathe
Calculated puffs of air been given life
Beneath this brave face is one of fear
Concealed thoughts on my mind I bear
Graduated law school and passed the bar
So I stay put behind like a parking car
Behind these prison walls I dream
The body captured but the mind is free
Within this prisoner a heart of change
A man ready to redeem his face and name
To be criminal means to love the crime
Criminal to citizen means you served your time
Metallic bars of defeat nailed deep
Beyond these prison walls my dignity
Iron-barred justice, lost impunity
To court with crime is to court with the law

BANGALORE CUISINE
Brown cookie black cream
Curry-mel eyes very deep
Southern Indian delicacy
Sweet to taste hot like Mirchi
Hara dhania scented
Madhu skin shine like tin
Speech thick Mawa thick
Masala on your tongue,
Nariyal palm.
Skinny legs straightened hair
Aam feet Bhindi smooth
Smile illuminating summer noon
Indian cuisine near you.

BROKEN
Tears run on both cheeks
Left and right,
Tears run on both cheeks
Side by side.
Salty streams stain make-up
But these dribbles skid on skin,
to skate on the chin.
A pupil for dark clouds
A thunder of a heart that shouts,
a breast of sweat and hurt.
A weathered face of hate that he made,
Beauty that dies ugly;onlookers to evade.

DRY TEARS
A tissue for my dry tear
The dribbles of yesteryear
Dried cheeks but wet fear
Teary eyes that still blur
A soothing for a sore dear
The lesser hurt when shared
Heavy heart on a light breast
Saddened chest that depress
A hug for a temper flare
The scotch of those near
Inflated egos in time repair
Confessed faults that impress
The dribbles of yesteryear
Dried cheeks but wet fear
Teary eyes that still blur
A soothing for a sore dear
The lesser hurt when shared

NOVEMBER NORMS
I want to place a collect call to heaven to my old man
That his boy still struggles to be an upright man
Never got that monumental shaving lesson
So my beard still rough with lesions
Where is guidance without a guardian
I am just a lost kid in a mansion
Mama did her part but not manly enough
Her spanking only slightly tough
The sight of my hero laid in a casket rest
November 26th,1998 got sick to death
So though I am a man i am still a kid
Because Novembers bring me to wish
Ten years on and I still mourn
Sadly your sickness not early known
I am far away from our queen that is sad too
But gladly so because she reminds me of you
I am sorry I did not emulate your temper calm
I erupt with emotions at times with fist and arm
Fourteen was to young an age to lose you
Heavier on me because I was the youngest too
Paapa you missed me dribble balls through legs a many
Academic awards and praise I won infinity
So I made it to Ghana's finest school (MFANTSIPIM)
Walked through the gates and I thought of you
Got my heart broken and discovered pain
Didn't listen to advice learnt hard to my gain
I tried finding you in every older man I met
Some good examples, others I regret
I retreated mostly into my shell
My sibblings worried but couldn't tell
So you will be missed on my wedding day
Should see my wife, pretty and gay
I needed my gentle giant by my side
Because in ten years i still ask why
I yearn for the massive hugs i shied from
A man still yearns for his father-son bond
Paapa is just another November
And I choose to remember
A decade passed but your significance withers not
A new nephew on the way, another ADOM!
So before I hang up, know I still hold you up
It is just another November, I haven't given up!
That his boy still struggles to be an upright man
Never got that monumental shaving lesson
So my beard still rough with lesions

SO I WRITE
I conjure words to marinate with verbs
I speak,
I write,
And articulate in the third
I pen phrases to birth ideas
I create,
I motivate,
And marry hope and fear
I diagnose sense and reason
I desecrate,
I permeate,
And debate science and religion
I analyze seduction and persuasion
I palpate,
I mitigate,
And colour human cognition
I personify feelings in meanings
I decipher,
I typify,
And amalgamate points in teaching
I impregnate prose with quotes
I recite,
I iterate,
And end dramatic speeches with votes
I write for your enlightenment
Discern,
Learn,
And so I count it my achievement.

WIFE TO BE
I will be your ultimate gentleman
Till we close the bedroom doors
I will be your Knight in Shinning Armour
Till you bad-mouth the steroid induced brother
Your second thought when you are lying
Your number one fan when you cook
Hesitantly the third to criticize you
The last to discourage you or undermine you
I want to be the first to know you love me
I wish to be the second to know you are pregnant
The third to know your parents are coming
And the last to know that the kid may not be mine
I want to be your second source of counsel after the Lord
The third to know what your girls think about me
The second and final man in your life
The first to steal your heart
I seek to be your one and only King
You to be the second in charge of my Kingdom
The third to know I got fired
The last to give up on me
To my wife-to-be
I will be all I can be
I will be your prince with the scepter
So for me to be, I need you to be.
Till we close the bedroom doors
I will be your Knight in Shinning Armour
Till you bad-mouth the steroid induced brother
Your second thought when you are lying
Your number one fan when you cook

POETRY AND POLITICS
Did you hear of the time Poetry met Politics on the stairs?
Did you hear the heated exchange of words that ensued?
Could you tell one from the other when their words merged?
Did you see the figures of speech from the Figure of speech?
I did. I saw it. It went.......
MR. POLITICS...You deceive the masses
With academic rhetorics
You cover fake policies
In linguistic fallacies
In the Opposition you seek power
In power you seek power
You quote for votes
Just to row the boat of hope......
The likes of you make me sick!
Politics fumed......MR. POETRY....
You sentimental uppity goof
Provide all solutions yet stand aloof
You thrive on peoples emotions
And exploit their hurt and tribulations
You paint worlds of colour and peace
In the midst of wars and disease
Dying people don't need literature
Keep feeding your word epicure
But I motivate I inspire and elevate
I criticize and emancipate
Well I amass the populace
I gather and educate
I mobilize and evaluate
Shush! you two...... I screamed!
You all different but the same
One is the voice
The other the action
You are the force to his ideas
He is your medium of movement
Without the other you both cannot be
So when one lies, the other is equally guilty

POETIC AFFLICTIONS
Poetic prowess?
No! I call it affliction
Because for him to expatiate
He suffers it for you to relate
The poet suffers for his masterpiece
These lines hold his life in speech
He is not gifted, he is afflicted
Cleverly dosed and delivery perfected
So when it is DEEP it wounds him
When it is FUNNY it ridicules him
When it is REVEALING he is exposed
If it HURTS he suffers most
If it EDUCATES his knowledge shared
So when it is TOUCHY he is left abused
When it is COPIED his intellect used
When it is READ his mind learnt
If it is REPRODUCED his wisdom spent
If it is CRITIQUED his ego dent
So the pen dribbles on the page
To leave your mouth watering
So the tongue can caress cheeks
To leave minds and eyes sparking
Poetic affliction?It is well intended.

REWIND
Wish I had a remote to push buttons
Then I would not talk but listen
Because she was not a flick to rewind
So she left and my mind to remindPress PAUSE when the relationship was scratching
Give it a wipe with common sense but no clean cloth
So I cared less when she wanted more, and none when she wanted it all
So those teary eyes left without a wipe
My heart is just a speaker without a mic
So every heart beat is a painful reminder
So I suffer chest pains for her migraine
But she was not a remote control
She had a mind of her own
She could have used some AA batteries
Those days I ran her out mentally
Her crime was she loved too much,
I played to much!So I am left a kid in the sand, counting these grains
I had lost my purchaser's guarantee
The price was lost and the lesson came with pain
In a rush to push the PAUSE button I pressed STOP
Could have said my hand slipped but my heart tripped, again!
So I suffer chest pains for her migraine
Eyes have never been this wide
Pride has never been this sliced
She loved deeply and cared insane
I played it safe I manouvred my lanes
So while she watched us frame by frame
I skipped through chapters same for same
Her love was elementary, constant and static
I loved in logics and reasons, purely academic
So for my smartness, I am left heartless
For my heartlessness, emptiness
Her side of the bed cold, already seems old
So I suffer chest pains for her migraines
A woman needs appreciation, attention and affection
She can do with at least two but not one
And she will stay until of the three she has none
Strike three means out, the referee whistle sounded
The crowd left the stadium the lights dim on you
She is hurt but won't bruise for you
So like always it ends the same
She loved you through the pain
But you imprisoned her heart and mind in chains
So you suffer chest pains for her migraines.
Then I would not talk but listen

SEX
Sex is........
A virgin's taboo
A nympho's deja vu
A teenager's practice
A hooker's art piece
A pimp's currency
A mother's pregnancy
A rapist's crime
A marriage's shrine
A honeymoon's first
A young man's thirst
A father's fear
A daughter's dare
A lover's affection
A patient's infection
A lady's bargain
A fetish's pagan
A drunk's mistake
A player's cupcake
An old men's enemy
A pornographer's academy
A song writer's subject
An artist's object
Sex is........
A union of two
A breaker of rules
A hobby for fools
An agent of news
A signature of love
A creator of laughs
A howl of wolves
A cheating rove
A divider of friends
A means to an end
A poet's ink in pen
A lesson learned
A volcanic pleasure
An erotic fever
A singing diva
A flowing river
A sensual aroma
A relationship diploma
A pulsating coma
A sensitive mimosa
A feeling of mutual being
A duet of spiritual meaning

LEMON AND LIME, CANDOUR AND CRIME
Lemon and lime, candor and crime
The bad is good with age and time
The good the bad when truth is mimed
So lick the bitter sweet
Till justice a happy meet
The biblical truth will last through time
God compensates crime in His own dime
The poorer the richer to gap the divide
So endure the raw in war
Till your hero in time to soar
Lemon and lime, candor and crime
The wise is foolish with bottle and wine
The right the wrong if conscience bribed
So withstand the norm
Till in you dignity is born
The sinners crest will hang on spines
The law is redeemed in sentence and fine
The acquitted the accused in moments of truth
So practice the truth in tale
Till in a helper comes your bail.

ODE TO EBONY
Skin so chocolate you can lick
Curves immaculate lips and hips
The darkness of her pupils weakens
Her gait and walk even preaches
Contours that caress the dress
Body that swings to impress
She walks to a symphony
I am a student of her complex anatomy
Intelligence with industry
Etiquette and polished oratory
She is black and proud
And she is fun and loud
A conductor in the kitchen
Because her mum taught and she listened
But she is all but a tool
And she will be all but a fool
She is daddy's princess
So she is gone if you care less
Won't stop you making some noise
But she is the first to prove a point
She guards her man with feline tendacies
So she will cat fight with energy
Last to admit my man is not good to me
But first to say but he is good for me
So I admire and study her lovingly
To understand and appreciate her eventually
She runs me diabetic on brown sugar
Till i die her lock on me is secure
Curves immaculate lips and hips
The darkness of her pupils weakens
Her gait and walk even preaches
Contours that caress the dress
Body that swings to impress

IN THE SAME BOAT
i row row my boat to the horizon...
as far as i see and the mind can imagine...
so i paddle to the left, i paddle to the right
on my last puff puff for some might....
then i woke up.....
we in the same boat......
you my fellow navigator, my second eye...
so undulating we ride the waves tide to tide...
the same waves that batter my side...
you can't prevent even if you tried....
then i woke up.......
we in the same boat.......
your faith in me ever so strong......
so sail with me over waters beyond....
so we paddle left, we paddle right....
on our last puff puff through the night....
then i woke up...........
we in the same boat......
i am your captain of honour.....
the sole occupant of your four chamber(HEART).....
your vein enriches me deeply....
your nature refreshes me sweetly....
then i woke up......
i woke up next to you and it wasn't a dream...
so i threw a smile at you and it means girl we are a team...
you awake my every sense of being...
my eventual answer to all life's meaning....
the love boat only thrives with shared duty....
that pilots and co-pilots steer steadily......
so we will sail on through waters calm and rough.....
and even when it gets tough....
smile at each other and say....darling...
WE ARE IN THE SAME BOAT.......
as far as i see and the mind can imagine...
so i paddle to the left, i paddle to the right
on my last puff puff for some might....
then i woke up.....
we in the same boat......
you my fellow navigator, my second eye...
so undulating we ride the waves tide to tide...
the same waves that batter my side...
you can't prevent even if you tried....
then i woke up.......
we in the same boat.......
your faith in me ever so strong......
so sail with me over waters beyond....
so we paddle left, we paddle right....
on our last puff puff through the night....
then i woke up...........
we in the same boat......
i am your captain of honour.....
the sole occupant of your four chamber(HEART).....
your vein enriches me deeply....
your nature refreshes me sweetly....
then i woke up......
i woke up next to you and it wasn't a dream...
so i threw a smile at you and it means girl we are a team...
you awake my every sense of being...
my eventual answer to all life's meaning....
the love boat only thrives with shared duty....
that pilots and co-pilots steer steadily......
so we will sail on through waters calm and rough.....
and even when it gets tough....
smile at each other and say....darling...
WE ARE IN THE SAME BOAT.......
THE COLOURS OF MY AFRICAN INHERITANCE
Red is for the blood I share with Kunta Kente
That indelible ink that flows through these veins
So justice unserved left empty plates till this day
Yellow for the gold that was sold off by my folks
The wealth of my people stacked on foreign boats
For the cowards that sold their own tribe men's souls
Green for every family tree rooted, generations recruited
Sons from fathers parted;
Daughters from mothers abducted
Black is for the hue on my skin
The hope of my kin
Then, now and again!
Red is for the rage I have for the recurring civil wars
The continual exploitation of our poor
The brain drain that leaks from our shores
Yellow for the increasing immigration fever
Tribalism, ethnicity and political anomaly from above and nether
For those that refuse to see a brighter future
Green for our young and staggering economies
The pawn of Western strategies
The pasture on the other side of the fence, the reason I left thee
Black for the colour of my pupil
The once blinded vision I now keep vigil
The perception of hope for my people
Red is for the blood I will share with my children's fold
Yellow for the richness of their minds acquired from the old
Green for a replenished generation, hopeful and bold
Black is for their social caste
That which they now embrace in haste.
That indelible ink that flows through these veins
So justice unserved left empty plates till this day
Yellow for the gold that was sold off by my folks
The wealth of my people stacked on foreign boats
For the cowards that sold their own tribe men's souls
Green for every family tree rooted, generations recruited
