THE FATHER MOTHER

The father mother
To the brave ones that transcended role
Who built the kitchen to cook in it
Raised boys to men and be far from it
Unorthodox but did the best you can
To the breast that milked and weaned
Little feet to stronger teens
The fairer sex that cried the battle war
That your young wil be all but poor
An eagle at your nest a mother at first
But a father, a man nonetheless

The Father mother
By death or divorce you are left alone
Did not weep but humbly climbed the throne
Had room to wear the dress over the trousers
Lived less that your own will be a success
Those charred knees of endless prayer
From birth to the day they walk to the alter
Now your nest is empty but success you can boast
Come dusk, they will all come and roost.
